Reasons to Visit Stone Harbor This Summer
You don’t need an excuse to visit the Jersey Shore, especially if you are visiting one of its quaintest towns, Stone Harbor. It’s a perfect location for a family beach vacation, girl’s weekend, or a romantic getaway. There’s plenty to do —or you can simply enjoy the luxury of doing nothing at all.
Here are some of our visitor’s favorite reasons for coming back to Stone Harbor.
SIMPLE PLEASURES…SAND, SEA, AND SPA
Start your day by relaxing on the beach and take advantage of the sights and sounds of the ocean. Beach weather is perfect throughout the month of October in Stone Harbor. If you’re looking to truly unwind, and refresh, Salt Spa at the Reeds is the answer. This new, multi-level spa offers the ultimate luxury spa experience with unparalleled signature services and treatments designed to rejuvenate, relax, and refine.
Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Bay on the west, visitors have a choice of plenty of shoreline and water activities. Consider fishing, jet skiing, boating or even an afternoon excursion onto the ocean for a seafaring adventure. Kayaking and paddling boarding are also great ways to drift away on the bay, right out back of The Reeds as part of the bay activities program.
CONNECTIONS WITH NATURE
Stone Harbor is home to The Wetlands Institute, an organization that protects and preserves the wetlands along the Jersey Shore. It’s a neat place that features various exhibits, bird watching, a marsh, and a guided beach walk. In fact, the organization is celebrating 50 years of research and education this year.
You can also pay a visit to the Stone Harbor Bird Sanctuary. The Sanctuary features four paths that go through the woodlands, gardens, and marsh – the Meadow Walk Path, the Holly Path, the Heron Overlook Path, and the Egret Espy Path. It’s a great place to embrace nature and watch birds and waterfowl.
As you would expect, Stone Harbor has a quaint shopping district that features boutique shops, toy stores, and old-fashioned candy and ice cream shops. All of the stores are independently owned and add a sense of small-town comfort and big-city style. And yes, you can always find summer staples like saltwater taffy, beach gear, t-shirts, and stylish fashion to add to your wardrobe.
Stone Harbor is the quintessential town for good cuisine, live entertainment, and summer cocktails. For the ultimate summer dining experience, the hottest spot in town is the outdoor Water Star Grille – serving cocktails, share plates, and sunsets seven days a week. For an eclectic menu of fine cuisine and every day dining, you can find yourself at SAX at The Reeds with signatures drinks and live entertainment daily. For bayside margaritas, live music and Mexican fare, there’s Buckets Margarita Bar and Cantina. Keeping it simple? There’s Stone Harbor Pizza Pub… and nothing ends a summer day like Wafflewich Waffles & Cones.
COMMUNITY + CULTURE
Stone Harbor pleases locals and tourists with fun community events like outdoor concerts, parades, family celebrations, picnics, and more.
